JEWELS OF THE SALON

LONDON - 1901 Arts Club, Exton Street

7.30pm Wednesday 22 January 2020

Debussy, Poulenc, Schumann and more

Where better to experience this ravishing music than in the sophisticated surroundings of London’s most beautiful chamber venue?

You are warmly invited to our debut Salon Recital. Drawing on our experience in opera and ballet orchestras, London Serenata will advocate the lyrical drama and evanescent lightness of this programme of mixed wind and piano music with all the skill and enthusiasm at their disposal. They are joined by the dazzlingly talented pianist Iain Farrington, a 1901 Arts Club favorite. An intimate evening of exquisite music. We hope to win your hearts.

1901 Arts Club is a five minute walk from Waterloo Station.

St Matthew's Redhill

further information

The concert juxtaposes original compositions for woodwinds by well known twentieth century composers Ibert, Bozza and Seiber, with skilful arrangements of well known works. The first of these is Warlock's Capriol Suite, composed in 1926 and based on renaissance dances. Shostakovich's Waltz No.2 from his Suite for Jazz Orchestra was made famous by the 1999 movie Eyes Wide Shut. Piazza's Libertango was composed in 1974 and has been released in 500 different recorded versions since then! Last but not least, Mozart's Divertimento No.3 K439b was originally composed for three basset horns, but has become a favourite in this version for oboe clarinet and bassoon arranged by the great French bassoonist Fernand Oubradous.

The church's coffee shop is open 8.45am to 2.30pm and tea and coffee is available inside the church from 12.45pm to 1.10pm.
